In my first unscheduled visit to Malindi in 2008, I saw the pastor’s house with its broken roof over the kitchen area. Behind a green partition was where the family all slept on the mud floor.
This is a very poor community. The pastor, called Fredrick, was trying against all odds to help those in need in his community. When I asked him why he didn’t repair his house before the rains came, he replied, "I cannot build my house before I build God’s house". I will always remember that focused response.
Through the help of so many of you and God’s grace, we have managed to build a decent home for the pastor and his family, and a good church building in Milano, which is a great benefit to many in the community.
This building is also used for things outside of being a place of worship to God. 'The Malindi Project' was started in the summer of 2008.
